Dälek - Abandoned Language (2007)

Από τα καλύτερα Άλμπουμ της Underground Rap που άκουσα το τελευταίο καιρό και που απ' τη πρώτη στιγμή με κατέκτησε.
Η αλήθεια είναι ότι δεν είναι εύκολο πράγμα το review, αλλά επειδή μου άρεσε πολύ το άλμπουμ θα προσπαθήσω να κάνω ένα.
Το πιο ωραίο με τους MC Dälek (vocals) και Oktopus (production) από το New Jersey, είναι ότι δεν είναι και τόσο Rap όσο θα νόμιζε κανείς ακούγοντας τους στην αρχή.
Καλύτερα θα έλεγα ότι το βασικό στοιχείο τους, ο ρυθμός είναι Rap, αλλά η μουσική τους έχει κάτι από Shoegaze, Noise κλπ.

• Abandoned Language: ένα χαλαρό 10-λεπτο κομμάτι όπου ο θόρυβος είναι σε χαμηλά επίπεδα: "Turn the page motherfucker ‘cause the story’s all scripted - six hundred years ain’t a fucking thing different"
• Bricks Crumble: εδώ μπαίνει ο ρυθμός και αρχίζει η παράνοια
• Paragraphs Relentless: μάλλον το καλύτερο track με το συνθεσάιζερ σε όλο του το μεγαλείο και με τον θόρυβο να περιφέρεται γλυκά και με ένα επίμονο ήχο sonar που δηλώνει κατάσταση έκτακτης ανάγκης.
• Content To Play Villain: η Jazz πλευρά του άλμπουμ
• Lynch: εδώ πιστεύω ότι τους έχει απασχολήσει για κάποιο διάστημα ο Iάννης Ξενάκης
• Stagnant Waters: όπως το λέει και ο τίτλος εδώ βουλιάζεις και άλλο στη λάσπη και βρώμικα νερά ειδικά όταν συνειδητοποιείς τους στίχους "Men and women shed tears when our people get shot, multiplied fears turn person to flock" και "Epitaphs have no authors, patient paupers, my nation of authors turn lawless"
  
• Starved For The Truth: εδώ μπλέκουν πολύ όμορφα τη Jazz Rock με το Hip Hop
• Isolated State: χαλαρώνουν, κάτι που θυμίζει πιάνο από Pink Floyd και προς το τέλος ξανά Rapάρουν
• Corrupt (knuckle up): το αρχικό μπούκωμα και το beat σήκωσαν τη στέγη του σπιτιού μου
  
• Tarnished: δυνατό με φανταστικά έγχορδα στο τέλος
  
• (Subversive Script): ένα από τα καλύτερα κομμάτια κατακλείδα σε άλμπουμ και σου υπενθυμίζει όλα τα προηγούμενα που άκουσες με το ίδιο χαοτικό τρόπο.

Τέλος η άλλη αλήθεια είναι ότι άργησα να το πάρω χαμπάρι το δίσκο, αλλά όπως λέει και η σοφή παροιμία "Κάλλιο αργά παρά ποτέ".
Ανεπιφύλακτα και σ' αυτούς που απεχθάνονται το Rap αλλά τσιμπάνε με τους My Bloody Valentine π.χ.

the paramedics found him: he was shaking on the side of the stage.
